How does Shockwave work? And Who Performs it?
Shockwave treatment works by using high energy sound waves to stimulate self-healing. These shockwaves – which are not electrical but rather sound shockwaves – are administered through a special wand, a hand-held piece of equipment, that dispenses the waves for a brief amount of time directly to the affected injury area. Our certified shockwave practitioner will carry out the treatment. The practitioner will start with a comprehensive assessment, including a real-time ultrasound scan, then create a treatment plan before beginning the shockwave treatments. Additionally, they will prescribe the right loading exercises to compliment the therapy.

Am I able to do any activity after Shockwave Therapy?
Yes, most often it is the case that some early loading exercises are prescribed after shockwave therapy. In some rare cases, patients may need to avoid exercising the treated area for a short period of time. Your practitioner will provide a plan of exercise and advise you on the intensity and frequency of those exercises.
How long does it take to recover?
Significant clinical outcome often seen 8 to 12 weeks after treatment. During the course of the treatment it is important NOT to take NSAIDs, as the treatment works by stimulation of Pro-inflammatory state.
Can I combine Injection therapy along with shockwave therapy?
In the instance of CORTICO STEROID injection, it is required that individuals wait at least 3 months before shockwave treatment. In the case of PRP and other cellular therapy injections, combining shockwave therapy may be highly beneficial. A discussion with your practitioner is encouraged.
